Interview with a Leftie.

Well, yesterday, but it still counts. I was meeting some friends for a quick dinner between shows, one friend of which is your a-typical ill-informed but amiable lefty, only too capable of criticizing the President via parrotization of the Times, but as one would expect, incapable of offering any alternative positions.

But, that's fine. I can turn off the politico lobe of my brain with such people. Nod. Smile. Whatever.

But I can cringe. Oh, believe me, I can put on a face few can mimic without eating a bowl of lemons. I was well on my way to preparing one when another friend brought up the topic of Bush's visit to Iraq. Then, the aforementioned amiable lefty piped up with:

I don't like the guy much, but that was a good thing to do.

Say what? Exquese me? Wave off! Wave off! Pull up!

Too late. What followed was a thirty minute condensed version of everything from 9/11 to Iraq and back again, put forth by myself in a monologue that I'm still rather proud of. Every single one of them sat there like deer caught in headlights. Headlights on a 747.

Net result, one less lefty in the world. Amazing what the application of a little logic can do.
