Si Vis Pacem Parabellum

The Media Sucks.

Not news, you say. Well, you're right, but they're really starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel. Today, Turkey was attacked by al Qaeda. This was a major attack. In fact, the Consul-General of the British consulate was killed, along with dozens of other people, and hundreds were wounded.

You'd think that this would be on the front page of every newspaper. CNN would be covering it live, dusting off the armchair generals, and whipping up the cool UNDER ATTACK graphics. So what did we see instead?

Video of Michael Jackson's jet, in a hanger. For hours. Followed by OJ-style helicopter coverage of his car.

This is utter lunacy. Now, I know that the media outlets run what they run for ratings. I know they have to make a buck, and I'm not suggesting they turn into 24/7 Jihad-Watch TV. No. What I am suggesting, is that they just might want to run something which outlines the most significant terrorist attack against our greatest ally since the beginning of the war.

Now, I work in the entertainment business. I know how obtuse and generally stupid the average reporter, editor and news room employee is. I know that the majority of them couldn't find Istanbul on a map, much less offer intelligent insight into the attacks or the war on terror in general.

But how depraved, I ask you, how twisted must one be to supersede coverage of a massive attack against the west with 24/7 coverage of a freak-show pop star who diddled a child?

The mind boggles, and the bile rises.
