A few people have asked me about advertising on Capitalist Lion, and why I
don't offer blogads space or something similar.
The bottom line has always boiled down to two primary issues: First, I
don't want to clutter up the site with a pile of annoying banner or spot
ads. Second, I don't want any advertisers to influence what I write. After
all, if widgetco were to buy an ad, I couldn't very well tear their CEO a
new one for saying something stupid at a graduation ceremony somewhere.
That said, what I do offer are direct, more or less permanent links under
the Capitalism section for products and services I have personally
reviewed and found to be worth recommending, such as Horizon Drugs.
This is typically done under two general arrangements:
1) You're selling something, you give me one, I evaluate it, probably blog
about it, and link to it if I like it. I then keep said widget.
2) You're selling something rather expensive (car, motorcycle, etc) which
you'd like to have returned, so you give me one, I evaluate it, return it
(usually in one piece), and you pay me a small fee for my time.
I find that personal recommendations and reviews carry significantly more
weight than random advertisments that the majority of people ignore. Case
in point, Oakley's Big Teeth hiking boots. I love them. I've bought
several pair. Several dozen people have emailed me telling me how they
also bought a pair on my recommendation and also love them. Personal
recommendations carry a lot of weight, folks.
So, if you'd like me to evaluate and potentially review/link your product
or service, feel free to contact me here to hash out the details.
Before you do, however, a few caveats:
